Redefining Work, Leadership, and Human Potential in a Transforming Region

Workplace of the Future is not another trend report. It distils deep insights from EngageRocket’s people science research and in-depth interviews with senior HR leaders across industries — from Airbus, Unilever International, Schneider Electric, Sephora, BD, among others.

Together, these perspectives reveal the five defining factors shaping Asia’s workplace, highlighting how shifting employee expectations, technology, and the growing focus on sustainability are transforming the way organizations attract, deploy, lead, and develop talent.

The future of workplace demands more than foresight; it calls for adaptability and boldness in the face of constant change. Organizations across industries are rethinking how they approach skills transformation, career models and human-centric leadership. This report captures those shifts and offers a roadmap for leaders seeking to build workplaces that are agile, equitable, and future-ready.

This whitepaper is developed in collaboration with Manaf Gardner Associates (MGA), a premier consulting firm specialising in Human Capital Solutions and Executive Education. Founded in 2025 by Datuk (Dr) Nora Manaf and Professor Dr Colyn Gardner, MGA brings decades of experience at the forefront of talent management and professional development. Their leadership, combined with EngageRocket’s analytics and workforce insights expertise, provides a powerful perspective on the region’s changing world of work.

Together, EngageRocket and MGA aim to equip CHROs, senior HR professionals, and business leaders with practical frameworks and actionable insights to navigate the next phase of transformation, where people, technology, purpose and wellbeing intersect to define the Workplace of the Future.

Prologue by Manaf Gardner Associates

This timely and important study has been conducted against a background of global turmoil, disruption and confusion. We are certainly living in interesting and uncertain times, which makes every effort to make sense of it a valuable contribution to humanity.

First, we must recognise that speed is now of the essence. Whereas in the past, including the quite recent past, change happened relatively calmly and in a way that caused what may be described as “controlled disruption.” No longer so. Today’s changes are taking place at a frightening pace, and this speed is adding to a sense of uncertainty and, for many, a sense of trepidation.

The accumulation and availability of knowledge, creating access previously unimaginable, is enabling the most extraordinary advances in science and technology. Today, knowledge is advancing faster than at any time in history. The challenge will be to use it for the betterment of mankind globally. This will be a real challenge, and one that will have a massive impact on the workplace of the future.

Demographics, climate change, trade disquiet and competition, and other potential disruptions caused by the geopolitical actions, such as block of conflict and wars of key blocs of countries with differing political agendas, will also influence the way we work, the jobs we do, the places we work and the time distributed between work and non-work in the future.

What we can say with certainty is that the workplace of the future will be very different from the past, and the best we can do is to use our imagination to look into the future in an unbiased and open-minded way.

What Industry Leaders Say

Vanessa Iloste

"If we behave in a transactional way, we create employees who treat us transactionally. Great workplaces create experiential relationships. You’re thinking midterm, not short-term. The more connection you create, the more you engage them and that connection stays even after they leave your organisation.”

Vice President, Human Resources, Global Beauty Retailer Brand

Experiential Connections

Edina Raddison

"The ideal workplace of the future is a place where you can just put your heart and soul into it. In Greece, they call this Meraki: Putting all your heart and soul into something. We spend so much time at work anyway. If we happen to enjoy it, it’s going to work much better.”

Edina Szabó
People & Culture Director, Radisson Hotel Group

Paul Airbus

"We signed an artificial intelligence charter… we will not look at AI to cut our workforce. What we are committed to do is to train our people. We use AI first as a tool to be better positioned to do our job, before going too fast into a mode where we delegate everything to artificial intelligence.”

Paul Coignec
Head of HR and Health and Safety, Asia-Pacific, Airbus

Patrick Steelcase

"I think an ideal workplace is one that has built in the flexibility to be agile and to change as employees’ needs change. It’s about building in choice and control. The only way to manage uncertainty is to build in agility."

Patrick Woo
HR Director APAC, Steelcase
