In our recent survey, nearly half of the respondents believe that managers bear the primary responsibility for driving employee engagement, while 37% attribute this role to the C-suite. Surprisingly, only 11% associate HR/People Ops with this responsibility. James leads all of Ipsos Karian and Box’s operations outside the UK, overseeing a network of employee experience and engagement researchers in multiple markets and regions.

He also acts as a strategic advisor to the leadership of a range of private and public sector organisations including McDonald’s, Diageo, HSBC and Rolls Royce on all aspects of employee experience.

James previously served as Global Head of Employee Insight for HSBC where he developed and implemented a worldwide strategy for employee experience and cultural research.

Before that, his background was in board consultancy and corporate research.
