HR Trend 2022:
Decentralisation of HR Will Spur New Management Skills

Part of the HR 2022 Outlook series

Here are some key learning points from Sonali's commentary:

  • Decentralization gives authority to individual departments to make decisions. There are some clear advantages - policies tailored to team needs and priorities, more effective management of issues, and better flexibility
  • Managers and leaders must be trained to act with empathy. This is HRs new role - to properly select, equip, and train managers to mobilise organisational talent
  • We need coaches not task-masters: Managers need to be hired, promoted, and trained with the mindset that they do not need to know all the answers.
