This interview is part of NEXT - National Employee Experience Transformation (NEXT) Programme.
One year into the pandemic, there's still a lot of work to be done to fully recover and thrive in a sustainable future. To support the community emerge stronger, we are launching a national programme to help your company measure and improve employees' experience and well-being. This programme is created in collaboration with IHRP, SHRI and Thrive HR Exchange.
Our team has worked with business and HR leaders to draft this programme. For the past few weeks we've had the opportunity to interview HR professionals from different industries to share their views on what is going on right now as we navigate an unprecedented pandemic globally, as well as to share some best practices and ideas that they've had with regard to their organisations. Our CEO, CheeTung Leong had the privilege to chat with Cornelius Chang, Head of People & Organisational Development at Grab.
Cornelius shared about how organisations can identify new opportunities to elevate the employee engagement especially in this new world of work.
"There are a few different lenses we take towards thinking about the employee experience. I think the first one we take a traditional kind of lifecycle from the moment a grabber signs the contract with Grab and looks forward to joining Grab. What we really start to do to shape the employee experience all the way through to off-boarding. Another view that we take is also how we would describe moments that matter. And how do we tap into moments that matter for these grabbers? " - Cornelius Chang, Head of People & Organisational Development at Grab.
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve and has transformed the way we work. While many organisations have shift their focus to restart and maintain their operations during these unprecedented times, many are also re-thinking strategies to engage with employees who are working remotely or in a hybrid environment.
"I think the first big change that it has now demanded a lot more empathy from employees towards one another. Another big change between organisation and employees is empowering them with a lot more choice. The choice given to Grabbers to work from office, because they do not have the right infrastructure, the right space to work from home. They are able to come in, and able to work from the office and use the space in the facilities but empowering Grabbers to make that choice."
To support organisations in fostering continuous listening and improving the employee experience and well-being, we launched a programme in collaboration with IHRP, SHRI and Thrive HR Exchange the “National Employee Experience Transformation (NEXT)”.
This new programme was complimentary to all participants and is applicable to companies of all sizes and industries as part of our commitment to support the business community as well as national efforts for Singapore to “Emerge Stronger Together”.
With over 390,000 responses collected, the report represents the largest consistent dataset on the state of workplace sentiment in Singapore.
